  • Legislation repealed the crime of sodomy, amending multiple statutes. (Criminal Law, 2-201, 3-602, 3-604, 3-809, 3-321; Courts and Judicial Proceedings, 3-801, 10-905; Family Law, 5-701)
  • Amendment prohibits a person from committing an assault by intentionally strangling another; provides penalty; provides definition of "strangling." (Criminal Law, 3-202)
  • Amendment prohibits a person from knowingly and with certain intent soliciting the consent of a parent, guardian, or custodian of a minor or a law enforcement officer posing as such to engage in certain prohibited sexual acts with the minor; provides penalty. (Criminal Law, 3-324)
  • Amendment alters the state of mind required for committing the crime of destruction of property, prohibiting actions that are motivated either in whole or part by another person's or group's race, color, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin or because another person or group is homeless. (Criminal Law, 10-304)
  • Amendment requires a physician, qualified health care provider, or hospital to provide notice to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board regarding services rendered to a victim of an alleged rape or sexual offense or child sexual abuse. (Criminal Procedure, 11-1007)
  • Amendment authorizes a court to issue an order authorizing or directing a law enforcement officer to use a cell site simulator to obtain location information. (Criminal Procedure, 1-203.1)
  • New law prohibits a law enforcement agency from presenting to a victim of sexual assault certain forms limiting the law enforcement agency's obligations to the victim or rights of the victim or that would define the scope of the investigation. (Criminal Procedure, 11-929)
  • Amendment requires a peace officer to notify an emergency facility in advance that the peace officer is bringing an emergency evaluee to the facility. (Health-General, 10-624)
  • New law provides that employment by a business licensed as a certain cannabis dispensary, grower, or processor does not constitute involvement in the illegal distribution, production, cultivation, transportation, or sale of a controlled dangerous substance for police officer certification or recertification if the individual's employment was not terminated for illegal or improper conduct. (Public Safety, 3-209.2)
